It seems to be gaining traction among those concerned about safety and saving money. The German Association for Technical Inspection (GT\u00dc) therefore recommends regular tire pressure checks, as the correct pressures save fuel and ensure driving safety.&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Tires contribute up to 25 percent to a vehicle&#039;s fuel consumption. This is primarily due to rolling resistance, which, given constantly rising fuel prices, offers significant potential for savings. A car tire, under the vehicle&#039;s weight, compresses by approximately 10 to 15 percent at the contact patch, conforming to the road surface. It changes its round shape and becomes flatter. The resulting increased resistance consumes drive energy, which is converted into heat.
