We are very pleased about this. Not only because it benefits our business, but also because it marks the beginning of the fulfillment of a mission we have consistently pursued for over 10 years: reducing rolling resistance as a factor for the economy as a whole.

In the following article by Norbert Michulsky, you will find basic information about tire pressure in vehicles. We have included the link at the end so you can continue reading there.

„"Pay attention to the correct tire pressure — By Norbert Michulsky —"
May 31, 2011 | 8:05 AM

Stuttgart (dapd). Tires with insufficient inflation pressure deform more than necessary and therefore have higher rolling resistance. This results in increased fuel consumption. Furthermore, tire lifespan is reduced, and braking distances become longer. The experts at the German Association for Technical Inspection (GTÜ) in Stuttgart therefore recommend checking tire pressure at least every four weeks.

To minimize rolling resistance, the recommended tire pressure can be exceeded by up to 0.3 bar. Increasing the pressure further would only negatively impact comfort, wear, and handling.

Correct tire pressure saves fuel and ensures driving safety. A quick check around the car is especially recommended before embarking on longer journeys with lots of luggage, such as before a vacation. A full load always puts extra stress on the tires. Therefore, you should increase the tire pressure accordingly.

Depending on the drive concept – front-wheel, rear-wheel, or all-wheel drive – car manufacturers recommend increasing the tire pressure by 0.5 to 1.0 bar per axle when utilizing the maximum permissible payload; in some cases, even more is recommended. The corresponding values can usually be found on the fuel filler flap or the driver's side door pillar. With so-called fuel-saving or low-rolling-resistance tires, the design-achieved minimization of rolling resistance becomes meaningless if the inflation pressure is neglected.

Subheading: Tires affect fuel consumption

Tires contribute significantly to a vehicle's fuel consumption, accounting for up to 25 percent. This is primarily due to rolling resistance, which arises from tire deformation. Therefore, reducing rolling resistance can noticeably improve fuel economy. GTÜ experts say this represents an attractive potential for savings, especially given constantly rising fuel prices.

Due to the vehicle's weight, the tire's contact patch compresses by approximately 10 to 15 percent, conforming to the road surface. The tread changes its round shape, becoming flatter. This inevitable change in shape during rolling is only possible against resistance (rolling resistance) and consumes energy, which is converted into heat. Therefore, the tire heats up while driving.

If the correct inflation pressure values are not maintained, the tire will compress even further. Rolling resistance and heat generation increase drastically. This can lead to a dangerous tire failure, warns GTÜ. A pressure deficit of just 0.2 bar increases fuel consumption by around one percent. At 0.4 bar, it's already two percent, and at 0.6 bar below the recommended value, fuel consumption increases by about four percent…“ Quoted from: boulevard.baden

Monitor your tire pressure while driving and receive warnings of any changes: TireMoni

Nun häufen sich die Stimmen, die sich mit dem Reifendruck als einem wichtigen Aspekt des ökologischen und sicheren Fahrens beschäftigen.
