Retrofit TPMS, join in.

tpms tire pressure, the EU laws are taking effect

We rediscover the environment every day, but often don't think about who all plays a role in preserving it. We often discover very late that we ourselves have a role to play in maintaining a livable environment. Even the smallest things can count. For example, tires can last a little longer because the tread is still good, and the tread is still good because we used the right tire pressure. The pressure was correct because we used an electronic tire pressure monitor like the one from TireMoni. This not only saves money, but even makes money through environmentally friendly behavior. Lower fuel consumption, better tire performance and service life, and lower accident costs are just a few of the advantages. The technology is there, and vehicle manufacturers will use it. Mercedes, for example, has announced that all Daimler models will be equipped with direct-measuring tire pressure monitoring from summer 2014.

Older cars also run on pneumatic tires.

At least some car manufacturers are responding to the new legislation. But what about older vehicles? TireMoni has been offering affordable retrofit options for TPMS tire pressure monitoring systems for many years. Unfortunately, what Bridgestone (www.bridgestone.at) wrote back in 2006 still applies:

Tire pressure has a strong impact on tire rolling resistance, which in turn is a major factor in determining fuel consumption. Depending on the type of road and driving style, rolling resistance represents 18 to 26 percent of a vehicle's total driving resistance. Because low tire pressure increases rolling resistance, it has a direct impact on the vehicle's fuel efficiency and emissions. Based on 2006 data, Bridgestone's Technical Center for Europe estimates that 40 percent of vehicles will experience an increase in gasoline consumption of 2.8 percent due to low tire pressure, wasting 8.1 billion liters of fuel at a cost of €9.5 billion. Our environment ultimately pays the price for this fuel being burned unnecessarily, generating an additional 18.4 million tons of CO2 are released into the atmosphere annually. This corresponds to an additional 93.2 kg of CO2 per year or 6.9 g/km for every vehicle on Europe’s roads!”

Even older cars and small cars need tires with the correct tire pressure, so upgrade your small car as well, so that it's not just dad's premium car that has everything installed "from the factory." Here's how: https://shop.TireMoni.com
