The speed limit on the A5 motorway between Freiburg and Basel has been set at 120 km/h for some time now. This wasn't just due to defective tires, but also to insufficient pressure, which caused the tires to flex and then overheat. Overheated tire material ignites more easily and can lead to serious accidents. Today, the tire industry manufactures excellent products using highly advanced production processes and superior raw materials. However, on the road, it's the drivers who are responsible for using these valuable products optimally, and that simply requires the correct tire pressure. Driving with insufficient pressure at high speed will cause even the best tires to become fatigued, hot, and ultimately unsafe.
