Myths about tire pressure

The Zurich News have now also revealed:
„"The advice to reduce tire pressure in poor traction conditions, such as on snow, dates back to the days of bias-ply tires. This no longer applies to today's radial tires – quite the opposite: Too low tire pressure worsens traction and increases fuel consumption. The TÜV expert generally recommends increasing the tire pressure – whether for summer or winter tires – by 0.2 bar compared to the manufacturer's specifications. This saves fuel without any noticeable loss of comfort. Tire pressure should also be adjusted accordingly when carrying a heavier load, for example, for a holiday trip." So, not everyone who claims to be an expert today can truly be considered a current expert. Some experts still subscribe to knowledge from 20 years ago. Even when it comes to tire pressure monitoring, we repeatedly encounter so-called experts who are still arguing based on information from 1974.
