Caravans on holiday – TPMS, RDKS

„A frequently underestimated weak point on long journeys is the tires. «High loads, long journeys, and summer heat mean constant stress for the tires. Tires that are too old are often no longer able to withstand this strain. The result is tire blowouts and the serious accidents they cause,» warns Bettina Zahnd-Sinzig, Head of Accident Research at AXA Winterthur.

Tires reach their critical age limit at six years. After that, the risk of failure increases significantly. Caravans, motorhomes, trailers, and convertibles are particularly affected, as their tires wear down more slowly due to less frequent use. If underinflation is also a risk factor, the danger of an accident increases dramatically. A thorough tire check before a trip is therefore absolutely essential. This includes checking the tire age and pressure, as well as inspecting for damage. Old or underinflated tires can very quickly become a problem. Good holiday preparation helps to avoid this. Even better is retrofitting with an electronic tire pressure monitoring system like TireMoni. If air loss actually occurs in the tire, a warning is issued while driving, allowing you to react before the tire comes off the rim. Tire safety requires TireMoni.
