Fuel trials

Saving on petrol is becoming increasingly popular; no wonder, given the prices.
Gas stations try many things, and some fail. E10 fuel with 10% ethanol additive, for example, has found far too few customers. Anyone who has stood in front of the pump and reached for another nozzle instead of the E10 one will know what wasn't appealing about this offer. One reason repeatedly cited is engine safety. This would mean: saving fuel, yes, but without endangering the engine (http://auto-clever.de/15415-fast-die-halfte-der-autofahrer-lehnt-e-10-kraftstoff-ab). Assurances that 90% engines manufactured after 1990 would tolerate the ethanol additive were insufficient. After all, I don't know if my vehicle's engine is among the remaining 10% (there are over 3 million vehicles in Germany that are not E10 compatible).
